Cognitive Resonance AV

Nicolas Bougaïeff collaborates with Itaru Yasuda on ‘Cognitive Resonance AV’ (January 2018)

Bougaïeff & Itaru Yasuda, each experienced artists in their respective fields, come together in a sensational AV collaboration:

Inspired by numerous science fiction novels, the music explores relentless sonic portraits that alternate between paranoid dystopia and far future posthumanity. The visuals computationally match each sound to pure optical effects.

‘Cognitive Resonance AV’ is an audio-visual piece exploring the symbolic potential of fundamental musical and visual parameters. Inspired by the appendix to George Orwell’s 1984, the music paints a strict and relentless sonic portrait of the war on truth. The visuals follow suit by systematically matching each sound channel to a different optical effect, a disciplined approach that creates a cohesive and brutal assault on the senses. Various elements such as colour, tempo and time signature are precisely selected with singular focus for their symbolic value. ‘Cognitive Resonance AV’ is generated in real time.
